About Daniel Moult

Daniel Moult (UK) is an internationally-renowned concert organist, recording artist, and educator. His belief in the power of the organ art to inspire, challenge, and transform has fuelled both his performing career and his long-standing commitment to education. As a soloist, Daniel has a mission to share the wonderful legacy of the instrument's repertory as widely as possible.

He performs programmes which showcase unashamedly the best Western canon of classical music written for the organ. He has performed in major venues and festivals across the world, most recently in Dresden Dom (Leipzig Academy), the Amsterdam Summer Organ Festival (Nikolaas Kathedraal), the Caen (France) Plenum Festivals, and Croatia (Zadar Dom). His large discography has reached many enthusiasts around the world, with award-winning films and recordings dating back nearly twenty years. Of these, he presented and performed the entire massive seven-disc boxset,The English Organ , which was hailed as "one of the most important organ recordings of all time" (Fanfare). Two recent Bach films recorded on historic German and Dutch organs (released in 2022 and 2024) have received glowing and unanimous critical reception. He has recorded for various labels, including Sony BMG, Signum, and Fugue State Films, as well as broadcasting frequently on BBC television and radio.

Since 2017, Daniel has directed the highly-acclaimed organ department at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), attracting high-calibre organ students from across the globe. Here, he has spearheaded the commissioning of five new organs, for which he is the main consultant.

He is highly in demand throughout Europe and Asia as an educator, having also directed many UK courses for the Royal College of Organists (for whom he also examines). His writing on performance and pedagogical matters appear regularly in various leading journals, and he has published several performing editions, including organ anthologies for Bärenreiter and RSCM.

Born in Manchester, Daniel studied at Oxford University and the Amsterdam Conservatorium. After graduating, he was Organist and Assistant Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral, before pursuing a freelance career in 2003. His musicianship has been praised as “exhilarating” (Gramophone: Editor’s Choice), “dazzling” (The Organ), and “formidable” (Organists’ Review). He plays “with intelligence, agility, and a lightly worn but altogether becoming authority” (Choir and Organ).
